Slackin’ on the postin’…
May 29th, 2008Ok, so sorry I’ve been a slacker on my posts lately. My last few days in London were totally nutz. I had many things I needed to do and see one last time before I left. I dragged Juls around downtown and made her look at all the touristy things, cuz you HAVE to see Westminster Palace, the London Eye and Big Ben…you just have to. We also went to the National Gallery and I showed her some of my favorite paintings, ate Korean food in China town and then Juls skated with the London Rollergirls. She was impressed and said they were hard core. I guess skating on a gymnasium floor is a lot different than the $15,000 track she is used to. At one point Rex hit her so hard she slid 15 feet sideways and into the wall next to me. Ouch! I would have gotten a picture of it too but my lens was too slow. It was really cool to see Juls skate with them, my two worlds colliding….literally. It was also kinda sad because it meant I was leaving. She had come to bring me back home. It was hard to say goodbye. I sure wish I had had more time to spend with them.
We left for home the next day, which was filled with tears too. It was hard saying goodbye to my host family whom I had grown very close with these past 8 months. They were fun and sweet and quirky. Just my kind of people. :-) So, I’m back now and kind of in hiding. I feel really odd being here. I don’t really want to talk with anyone yet because I don’t know what to say when they ask “How was it?”. That’s such a huge question. I think I need to digest the whole experience for a bit.
