2007 Portland Soapbox Derby

August 26th, 2007 by Katrina Cole

Woohooo!! Soapbox Derby!! I finally made it to Portland’s adult soapbox derby races. That’s two derbies in two weeks! It was so frickin’ fun. I shot some pix with my Canon 10D and a new Canon 50mm f/1.8 II Lens. It is really different shooting with a fixed lens, almost easier. I think it simplifies things quite a bit.

So, these peeps are just plane crazy! You wouldn’t believe the speed they were getting going down Mt Tabor. Last year I guess one of them got out of control and ran into some spectators. A woman got pretty hurt and later sued. Lame. I almost got my head taken off while taking a picture. Those little cars are quiet so, keep your head up!!

Hey, did you know Mt. Tabor is a dormant volcano? God I love this city.

This is the best collection of pix from this oh, so portland event. You are great for posting this. Speaking as an Official Member of Team Evil Racing–YOU ROCK. Thanks and come on by The Florida Room and see our car. We finished ninth, in time and first in fun.

Hey thanks!!! I bet you say that to all the girls! I’ve been hearing good things about The Florida Room and their now famous Church of the Bloody Mary. I’ll be sure to swing by and check out your car. I could use a good bloody mary this morning actually.

Does Team Evil Racing have a website?
